Lincoln Hills Sports Car Group History

Lincoln Hills was still a small cluster of houses when Larry and Sharon Schwarz spotted two late model Corvettes during drives along their street. As owners of a 2000 Corvette convertible, they found that interesting. A few days later, they met Don Belval, a neighbor with a sports car. Together, they wondered if many Lincoln Hills residents drove sports cars. If so, would some of those folks be interested in taking some casual Tours together? Would it make sense to form a Shared Interest Group for sports car owners and drivers

Two months later, March, 2002, the Schwarzs hosted four couples who were interested in forming a group - the Schwarzs, Don and Jeanine Belval, Roger and Carol Louthan, and Steve and Cleo Postle. Larry initiated the process with the Lincoln Hills Association Activities Department and, in May, 2002, this small group held its first meeting at the Orchard Creek Lodge. Two weeks later, the new group toured Tahoe together.

During the first year, the group took five Tours and the number of members doubled. Now the group included a Porsche 996, a Mercedes SLK, a Mazda Miata and a half dozen late model Corvettes. The highlight of the year was a three day Tour to Mendocino and points north. The group's meetings were informal affairs at which destinations and sports car events were discussed. Larry Schwarz was president, membership chairman and events coordinator at the same time, and still had time to play golf.

Presently, the Lincoln Hills Sports Car Group has grown to approximately 100+ Households, 96+ Sports Cars and about 196 members. Our group enjoys Tours, which for some years can go over 30 days on the road and over 5,000 miles if you went on all Tours. Porsches, Hondas, Corvettes, Mazdas, Jaguars, Mercedes, Lexus, Thunderbirds and BMWs now show up for Tours and Socials. In addition to Club Tours and Club Socials, members of the group also enjoy getting together for Charitable events that focus on Sport Cars.
