Hello Trippers,

The basic itinerary for the Mendocino trip is as follows:


DAY ONE (October 17, 2006)

• Meet at the OCL at 7:15 a.m. We will line up in two groups. Cleo and I will lead the first group, which will travel at or near the speed limit, as road conditions permit. Dick and Mary Ann Brewster will lead the second group, which will travel at a somewhat more leisurely pace. We have 14 cars, so if one group gets overloaded, please join the other one.

• Depart OCL at 7:30 a.m. Travel Highways 65 and 70 to Marysville/ Yuba City and Highway 20 to Winters.

• Coffee/Restroom Break at Granzella's in Winters at approximately 9:00 a.m.

• Depart Granzella's at approximately 9:30 a.m.

• Continue on Highway 20 to Highway 101 South.

• Continue on Highway 101 South. Exit on Highway 253 West.

• Continue on Highway 253 to Highway 128 West.

• Continue on Highway 128 to Boonville. Lunch in Boonville at Highpockety Ox at approximately 12:00 p.m.

• Depart Boonville at approximately 1:45 p.m. Continue on Highway 128 West to Highway 1 North.

• Continue on Highway 1 North. Arrive at Little River Inn at approximately 2:45 p.m. Check in. Activities of your choice (visit Mendocino, hike in Van Damme State Park, etc.) until dinner.

• Dinner in Little River Inn Dining Room at 6:30p.m. Dinner may be charged to your room.


DAY TWO (October 18, 2006)

• Breakfast at your leisure. The Little River Inn is good, or you could go into Mendocino.

• Explore Mendocino, the Headlands, Shops, Galleries, etc. Lunch on your own.

• Those who are continuing to the Benbow Inn will meet in the Hill House Parking Lot at 1:45p.m.

• Travel Highway 1 to Fort Bragg (10 miles) I suggest buying gas in Fort Bragg. There are several gas stations on the way into town.

• Assemble at the north end of Fort Bragg. Continue on Highway 1 to Leggett. Visit the Chandler Drive Thru Tree in Leggett.

• Join Highway 101 North. Continue on Highway 101 North to Benbow Inn (approximately 4:00 p.m.) Dinner at Benbow Inn at 6:30 p.m. You may charge it to your rooms.


DAY THREE (October 19, 2006)

• Breakfast at Benbow Inn (or you can go into Garberville for breakfast).

• 10:00a.m. Depart for The Avenue of the Giants. Tour the Avenue of the Giants on your own or in small groups of your own choosing. It will take approximately one hour or up to several hours to tour the Avenue of the Giants, depending on how thoroughly you wish to do it. Afterward, return to Lincoln on your own. We will suggest some possible routes.
